Located in the province of Rio Negro, Las grutas is the second favorite destination for tourists who travel to the Argentinean Patagonia. It is almost three kilometers of coast, beaches where you can also see amazing cliffs that add beauty to the area, with blue and transparent water that mirror the sky above them.
Las Grutas is a summer villa, where architechture maintains a typical and simple air to it, which is –however- prepared to absorb all visitors that travel to this place to relax or enjoy adventure activities.
A few miles away from there, you can find San Antonio Oeste, another summer villa where hotel, gastronomic and tourism infrastructure has been more developt.
- Attractions
Las Grutas: tourism villa with good hotel infrastructure, almost three kilometers of coast and nine different ways to go to the beach. The crystalline water in the area is usually at 20ºC, an inusual temperature for this particular area of the planet, that turns out to be a wonderful surprise for those who travel to Patagonia. In front of Las Grutas you can find Restingas, where you can find rocky formations that are the home of nativa flora and fauna species.
Piedras Coloradas (Reddish Rocks): five kilometers South of Las Grutas. There are rocky formations of a reddish color, where you can take walks, rides on horseback or simply enjoy the landscapes in one of the nearby beaches.
San Antonio Oeste: home of fishingmen, with excellent hotel and gastronomic infrastructure, compared to Las Grutas, which is simpler. It features museums, traintracks, piers, craft markets and forests.
Sierra Grande: it connects Las Grutas to Puerto Madryn. It used to be an important town thanks to mineral extraction, mainly iron, but after the closing of the mine there its attraction today is based on expeditions made to the center of the earth, mining tourism at its best.
