Formosa is part of the geographic zone known as "chaco". Since 2004, the city has developed tourism-related activities, thanks to a program led my the Argentinean government which sends resources to this area, setting important festivities and celebrations there, as well as general tourism inside the province. Formosa gets its name from a river that runs in front of it. Its most important attraction is the city of the same name and the Pilcomayo national Park, which is only a few miles away. The city of Formosa disbeaches a special beauty, considering it maintains an important urban center that is surrounded by native vegetation. There, you can find valleys, forests, creeks, rivers, lagoons and other geographic formations that can only add beauty to the area.

Attractions

The Pilcomayo National Park offers natural beauty as well as floral and fauna species in danger of disappearing for good, which can still be seen here in their natural habitat, protected and secure inside the park.

Around Formosa there are other attractions of nature to visit, like Laguna Yema, where you can see the generosity of nature with its town and see what's left of the aborigin settlements in the area. Another place of interest is called Bañado La Estrella, one of the biggest humedals in South America, only 300 Kilometers away from Formosa.

Further South, you can visit Herradura, Misión Laishí and Paí Curuzú, smaller towns that every year develop more and more services to receive tourists who look for small places that are quiet and peaceful, perfect for relaxing and enjoying the beautiful and colorful landscapes.

How to get there
From Buenos Aires, by land, you travel through RN9 y RN11. Daily flights leave from all major airports to the El Pucu Natinal Airport in Formosa.
