Ancient Ice blocks

In Southern Argentina, in the middle of Patagonia, you can find the province of Santa Cruz, which offers unique landscapes. There you can find millenary glaciers in the middle of fiords, lagoons and ice blocks, all framed by the purest of blue skies.

Santa Cruz is a unique place, where the wonderful landscapes surprises those who visit the area, being the absolut protragonist of all the pictures the visitors take.

Besides its geographic beauties, which include mountains too, it is possible to see amazing animals in the wild, like sea wolves, penguins, cormorans and even whales.

Attractions

El Calafate: the most important city in the province of Santa Cruz, also known as the capital of glaciers. There, you can practice adventure activities on ice, one of the most difficult and risky activities in the world. El Calafate is the starting point of expeditions to national parks and glaciers in the area.

Los Glaciares National Park: Patrimony of Humanity since 1981. With over 600 thousand hectares, it is the ideal place to really see the detachment of glaciers, enormous pieces of frozen water that survive in the most southern area in the world.

Perito Moreno Glacier: in the National Park of the same name, it has a surface of 257 Km². The glacier includes two hills (Fitz Roy and Torres), which can be accessed to practice ice hiking.

San Julián Natural Reserve: you can see over 140 thousand hectares of forests near the Andes, where protected species of flora and fauna still survive. In the reserve, you can also visit beaches near the Atlantic and see abrupt cliffs. Nearby the reserve, there is a pier and a bay, where there are restaurants, perfect to enjoy typical food.

Other places of touristic interest are Puerto Deseado (Wanted Pier), Gallegos River, Cueva de las Manos (Hands Cave), El Chaltén and Bosques Petrificados National Monument, where you can see millenary forests in petrified form.
