Meeting of the town

268 Kms. from the capital of the province of Catamarca you can find Tinogasta, a town created by the diaguita people, who called it after the word for “meeting of town”.

The development of tourism activities has turn Tinogasta into one of the most important towns in northern Argentina, a place visited by thousands of tourists every year, all of whom go there to see its natural wonders. Beautiful geography, ameable people, good food and favorable climate are the characteristics of the Catamarca province and its surroundings.

At 1500 meters of altitude, Tinogasta is surrounded by other important touristic attractions, such as Antofagasta de la Sierra, La Rioja and the high peaks of the west, shared with Chile, where you should see the Dos Hermanas hill and the Los Patos hill, both over five thousand meters high.

Thanks to its favorable climate conditions all year, in Tinogasta you can visit vineyards, thermal waters, fruit valleys and a multicolor mountain range.

Attractions

You can enjoy free time or vacations in a small town in the middle of the valley and the mountain range in the north of Argentina, where touristic services are of first quality and continue to develop and improve. In Tinogasta, you can also visit one of the many vineyards in the area, where olives are grown for exportation.

Thermal waters, valleys and mountain range, all invite tourists to take long walks on its beautiful roads, crowned by the high mountains. In the whole area you can practice sport activities, such as trekking and horseback riding in the Cuesta Zapata, La Falda del Puesto or Las Vegas del Abauscan.

How to get there

By land, you take the RN9, then the RN60 and, finally, the RP33, which takes you to Catamarca.

Buses leave daily to Catamarca from Buenos Aires, and other main cities. From there you can travel by air to Catamarca, too.
