This small city is located in the middle of the Rioja province, surrounded by beautiful natural landscapes where you can see valleys, mountains, waterfalls and arid sectors.
When you walk down the roads outside of the city, you can see big ranchs, where all kinds of grains and plants are grown. Agroindustry is the main activity for the families who live in Chilecito.
The most important touristic activities in the area are related to sports and adventure activities. In Chilecito you can practice a neverending list of high-risk sports and, also, fly fishing, hiking and ecotourism.
- Attractions
You can visit a dozen of walking paths available for trekking and 4x4, as well as other roads meant to take you to the beautiful waterfalls in the area, where you can fly fish and practice other nautical sports.
In the centre of Chilecito there are a number of constructions that help you understand and get in touch with the history of the province, such as churches, museums and public buildings.
You should also take the detour and visit the vineyards in Chilecito, with its wineries and guided tours, where you can get all the information you need about the wine making process and storage, as well as the different kinds of wines and get a taste of some of them.
There is also a circuit known as “natural colors circuit”, which covers the Nonogasta-Sañogasta-Guanchín route. This tourism circuit is found fifteen kilometers from the city in Chilecito, where you can visit other three small towns that spend time and energy working with vegetals and crafts. There, you can see how people grow olives, grapes, herbs and fruits.
